The Clinic was founded by Lorna Muthamia, an experienced and dedicated speech pathologist and is currently supported by allied health assistants.

Supporting children and empowering families through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Is your child a late talker? Would you like to learn how to grow their vocabulary?

Is your child difficult to understand?

Should your child be saying more than they currently are?

Does your child find it difficult to engage/socialise with other children?

Is your child failing to make sufficient reading progress at school?

We offer client-centred services and empower our families on ways to optimise communication and learning outcomes for their children.

Our Approach

We exist to meet parents at their point of need, and to walk the journey with them, from disillusion, confusion, to feeling empowered, confident, and hopeful. We realise that speech pathology services are not always readily available, therefore, we are constantly devising ways of making our services accessible to families across the globe.

We offer individual and group sessions to children depending on their circumstances.

Hey, I'm Lorna Muthamia

Speech therapy for me was born out of a need to solve a problem that afflicted my family personally – and it came with a realisation of how the severe shortage in speech therapists was causing an increased burden to families in Kenya (well, and the world over).

I now have 15+ years’ experience in providing speech therapy to children with varying communication difficulties both in well-served as well as underserved regions.

And my vision – is for accessible, sustainable practices, and effective speech therapy for all children regardless of their geographic location or prevailing circumstances.

Testimonials

I trusted Lorna from the get go! Her experience in speech therapy is what any parent would look for, for the early years of learning… I got a chance to appreciate the work that goes into creating learning content for early learners. It didn’t seem easy to put together, but it was done in such a way that made the child enjoy learning.
Mama Skye
We first met Lorna when she was referred to us as a speech therapist for our son. After we saw how quickly our son’s speech improved (and how Lorna integrated academic concepts into the therapy), we realized Lorna has a gift for working with children. Lorna is someone you follow. Lorna…has our highest possible recommendation.
Mama & Baba Gabriel, and Samuel
Our very first meeting with Lorna gave me a great deal of confidence that i was finally at the right place. By the end of that first meeting i got to know for the first time the specific challenge areas that we needed to concentrate on so as to help my daughter along with her speech and i was also equipped with practical skills to further aid her progress. Six months down the line, my daughter can express herself much more clearly and this has given her confidence to make friends at school!
Njambi
I know Lorna since that time for my son and do not hesitate to discuss with her any issue pertaining to her field. She gives all her time to listen and advices appropriately. I feel proud to recommend her to any of my colleague, friend or my patients, as I have experienced her services myself. Speech therapy services are quite few in the country and not really affordable for some. Lorna is working hard to provide an affordable, uninterrupted service that the country is really in need of. We really need to support her in this great initiative.

Late Talker Concepts You Should Teach Your Child (Part 1)

What You Need to Teach Your Late-Talker (Instead of Alphabet & Colours) Having a child who has delayed speech (late-talker) is probably one of the most distressing discoveries for parents. Language is a powerful tool that shapes our experiences and interactions with the world around us. It is the foundation for communication, self-expression, and building relationships with others. We believe that a strong language foundation is essential for promoting social connections, positive mental health, a strong sense of self, and improving overall quality of life.
As a passionate advocate for promoting literacy, I believe that learning to read is one of the most critical skills a child can acquire. The ability to read is fundamental to success in school and beyond, but unfortunately, many children are plagued with reading disorders that have debilitating impact on their self-esteem and success at school. Fortunately reading disorders can be mitigated through explicit instruction using evidence-based methods.
Articulation (speech) is an important component to effective communication. While ‘speech’ and ‘language’ are often used interchangeably, they are in fact two separate entities. Speech refers to the mechanics of producing sounds and words, while language encompasses the broader system of communication that includes vocabulary, grammar, and social skills. Speech disorders can significantly impact a child’s ability to be understood, and to interact with their peers.
